12 persons have been killed in a clash between bandits and vigilantes in Zak community, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This is coming days after bandits gave quit notices to residents of five villages in Wase to vacate or face a war.
The threat made the residents of the affected areas to flee to Wase town for fear of attack.
Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase who confirmed the latest development, told Daily Trust that the incident which occurred around 9am on Sunday, July 3, left nine bandits and three vigilantes dead.
The spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven (OPSH),Major Ishaku Takwa, also confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the casualty figure.
He said the troops repelled the attack and moved to the Gajin Bashar community to fight bandits who also stormed the area.
