Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr, has called up Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble as replacement for Francis Uzoho in the squad for this month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) made the announcement on Sunday night, November 7.
The Super Eagles will face the Lone Star in Tangier, Morocco on Saturday and then host the Blue Sharks in their final grouo game in the qualifiers next week Tuesday.
Uzoho featured in Cyprus club Omonia Nicosia’s UEFA Conference League encounter against Swiss club Basel on Thursday night, but missed Sunday’s league clash against Ethnikos Achnas due to illness.
”Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has been called up to replace Francis Uzoho who has been reported sick. Get well Frank,” read a statement on the Super Eagles facebook page.
Noble was first invited to the Super Eagles in March for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho but is yet to make an appearance for the three-time African champions.
Maduka Okoye and Daniel Akpeyi are the other goalkeepers in the squad for the qualifiers.
