Unknown assailants have have killed a 34-year-old postgraduate student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Emmanuel Dauda Akuki.
It was gathered that the assailants invaded Nasarawa Housing Estate along Makurdi/Jos road on Saturday night, October 24, killed the Forensic and Correctional Psychology student and carted away valuables items.
According to Daily Trust, the assailants jumped over the fence at the backyard before gaining entrance into the estate around 10pm.
It was learnt that the deceased was stabbed at the back of his neck before being strangled to death.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Nansel Ramhan, said an investigation had been launched to ascertain the rationale behind the murder.
Meanwhile, the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, on Monday, October 25, paid a condolence visit to the family members of the deceased on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The Deputy Governor Dr Akabe sympathized with the father of the deceased, Mr Dauda Akuki-Ovedoh and his family and prayed the Lord grant the deceased eternal rest.
Dr Akabe directed the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeshina Soyemi to as a matter of urgency bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
