[News] Alleged molestation: Court grants bail to Deeper Life High school principal and six others



The Magistrate’s Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State capital has granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 each to the Principal of Deeper Life High School Uyo and six others who were dragged before the court over their alleged involvement in the alleged physical and sexual assault of an 11-year-old student of the school, Don Davis Achibong.

 

The state police command arraigned the principal, Mrs. Ndidi Solomon, and six others including Joseph Nseabasi, Akpan Johnson, Egor Wilson, Joseph Ikenna before the court after concluding its investigation into the case of sexual assault that has since gone viral. The accused persons were arraigned on four charges bordering on sexual molestation, maltreatment, starvation, and negligence.

 

When the case was read, counsel to the accused persons applied for bail for them, noting that the alleged offence is available. The Magistrate in charge of the Court then granted all the accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000 each while the two minors among them were released to their parents.

 

The case was then adjourned to January 20 for an accelerated hearing. The presiding Magistrate warned all parties involved in the case to avoid unguarded media comments that could negatively affect the court process.
