American professional boxer and former kickboxer, Jarrell Miller has been reportedly arrested for an alleged carjacking without a firearm or weapon and burglary with assault or battery.
Miller was apprehended by the police in Hollywood, Florida, on Tuesday afternoon after being accused of attacking a car dealership employee and then disappearing in a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was recently repossessed, according to news network WSVN.
Police reportedly said that Miller did not know that the truck had a tracker inside, which saw him located and arrested later in the day.
The 35-year-old heavyweight boxer is said to have placed the employee in a chokehold and slammed him to the ground before snatching his keys and fleeing the scene.
Miller is being held on a $30,000 bond at the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale – having had a court hearing Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.
The news comes just 12 days after Miller’s mega-money bout with Daniel Dubois in Saudi Arabia, with the pair featuring on the highly-anticipated Day of Reckoning card.
The 35-year-old American lost the fight due to a 12th-round TKO but picked up a career-highest payday in the process.
The fight was meant to help Miller get his life back on track after being handed a two-year ban in December 2020 following a four positive drugs tests in a 12-month period.
Miller was supposed to fight Anthony Joshua for the Brit’s IBF, WBO, and WBA heavyweight titles at Madison Square Garden on June 1, 2020.
However, Miller failed a series of Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) tests in late March and served a six-month ban as a result of his doping.
Eddie Hearn decided to move on from Miller – who tested positive for human growth hormone, EPO and GW1516 – and set Joshua up with Andy Ruiz instead.
However, Ruiz stunned the world by stopping Joshua in brutal fashion in the bout on June 1, 2019 – taking Joshua’s heavyweight titles.
