Singer Chike has apologized after being called out for telling Igbos not to travel to the East for Christmas.
The singer had shared a tweet in which he described such trips as a primitive behaviour. Chike added that roads are usually busy at that time and those making such journeys should pick another time.
Following the outcry his tweet generated, Chike shared a rejoinder in which he stated it was an emotional one and that he was misunderstood. He further disclosed that he lost two friends who were making a return trip from the village.
The singer tweeted;
I believe my now-deleted tweet was misunderstood as it was an emotional one . This morning, 2 friends died on their road trip back from the village . I think the roads are too risky for everyone to be headed home & back. If you have been hurt, I sincerely apologize.
