Hundreds of protesters gathered in Freedom Plaza on Tuesday evening, January 4, a day before a congressional vote to affirm Joe Biden’s victory to protest and back Trump’s unverified claims of election fraud.

On Wednesday, demonstrators were seen clashing with U.S. Capitol Police and overcoming barricades to make their way into the Capitol building as Congress counts the Electoral College ballots inside.
Reports said congressional staff in the U.S. Capitol complex were ordered to evacuate two buildings, the Cannon office building for House members, and the Madison building, part of the Library of Congress, as protests intensified.
