[News] FBI arrests American man suspected of being part of US capitol riots after he’s deported from Kenya



The FBI has arrested an American linked to January’s deadly riots at the US Capitol in Washington DC  after he was deported from Kenya.

 

Isaac Sturgeon, 32, of Dillon, Montana, has been summoned to a court in New York after he arrived at JFK airport over the weekend.

Sturgeon is charged with seven counts including shoving a metal barricade into police officers during the riot.

 

He has been released on a $250,000 (£181,000) bond.

According to the New York Post, which saw the documents, Mr Sturgeon was deported from the country after an arrest warrant was issued by the FBI.

He had been staying in Kenya since 24 January, and was planning to return to the US in April, according to court documents.

Recall that in January 6, a mob loyal to Donald Trump stormed the Congress building prompting a large scale investigation and the impeachment of the former president.

The attack saw five people including a police officer killed, and shook the foundations of American democracy.

If convicted, Sturgeon – who runs a lawn care business – faces up to 20 years in prison, according to the New York Post.
