Friends, colleagues and family members are mourning a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Emmanuel Igwe, who was killed by suspected herdsmen in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State last Sunday.
LIB reported that the gunmen also kidnapped Igwe’s wife, Charity and killed Ajah Okafor, the father of Ohaneze Ndigbo youth wing chieftain, Damian Okafor.
Pastor ThankGod N. N, the Corporate Ministries Coordinator of the Assemblies of God Church, Ezza District, Ebonyi State, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, said the church leaders have broken the sad news to his parents.
According to the pastor, Igwe was supposed to write his promotional exam on Wednesday, June 21, and had led prayers in church against sudden death the same day he was killed.
“PAINFUL EXIT!!! We got a call very early Monday morning of 19th June that our beloved Deacon, Mr. Igwe Emmanuel Maduabuchi was attacked alongside his wife on his way to Port Harcourt on Sunday afternoon. The story had it that Bro. Emma was killed at the spot while the wife was kidnapped by same unknown gun men,” he wrote.
The church leaders with the family members broke the news to his parents, the Rev & Rev. Mrs. Igwe Simeon yesterday, 20th June been Tuesday.
Bro. Emmanuel Maduabuchi Igwe until his death was The LEVITE COORDINATOR in Ezza District of AGN and a Deacon of the Assemblies of God Church, New Market. He also works with INEC office, Afikpo where he was proposed to write a promotional exam today Wed. 21st June with the wife. This promotional exam as gathered will make them Electoral Officers (EO).
This dream and many more has just been cut short. No one can actually say for sure what really happened but we are sure God knows. Bro. Emma and the wife on the same Sunday they travelled led prayers in church against sudden death without knowing it almost inevitably close.
While we sincerely pray and make efforts that the captors will release his wife, we ask that God may accept his soul.
