[News] Gunmen attack passenger boat in Bayelsa

A passenger boat was attacked by gunmen in Bayelsa on New Year’s Eve.

 

The attack occurred after the boat which had 14 passengers, left Yenagoa for Twon-Brass in Brass Local Government Area of the state.

 

While the passengers were unhurt in the attack, the gunmen made away with the 115-horsepower Yamaha outboard engine of the boat and dispossessed the passengers of their valuables.

 

Bayelsa chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Mr Ogoniba Ipigansi confirmed the incident and also said a rescue team was dispatched to the scene of the incident.
