Lawmaker representing ?iru constituency, Kabiru Hassan Dashi was on Monday June 20 elected as the new Deputy Speaker of Kano state house of assembly.
This is coming after former Deputy Speaker of the House, Zubairu Hamza Massu resigned after defecting to the New Nigerian Peoples Party.
Speaker of the House, Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, after reading the letter during Monday’s plenary session, declared the Deputy Speaker’s seat vacant.
After reading the letter, a member representing Dawakin Tofa, Hon. Sale Marke, nominated Dashi and was seconded by the member representing Wudil Hon. Nuhu Abdullahi Achika.
Dashi, who was the former Deputy Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader, and Majority Leader of the House, subsequently agreed to become the Deputy Speaker, shortly after his nomination by the 28 members of the House.
He thereafter took oath to the office of the Deputy Speaker, which was administered by the Director, Legal of the House, Barrister Nasidi Aliyu.
