Kidnappers have killed two residents of Angware community, Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, who came to deliver ransom for their abducted relatives.
The deceased were identified as Agada Sambo of Maigemu District and one Azi.
A resident of Angware community, Moses Sule, who confirmed the killings to Punch in Jos on Monday, July 31, said the victims were killed on Saturday.
According to Sule, the victims were buried on Sunday while security agents have started a hunt for the bandits.
“Here in Angware, the headquarters of Jos East LGA, two persons were killed by kidnappers on the night of Saturday, July 29. The victims were Agada Sambo of Zangam village in Maigemu District of Jos East and one Azi from Kayarda also in Maigemu District of Jos East,” he said.
“Agada went to pay ransom for the release of another resident, Luka Izang, earlier kidnapped about two weeks ago when he was killed.
“He was first held while Izang was set free. The bandits later killed him in their captivity. One Jerry was sent with ransom to free Agada but the kidnappers collected the ransom, sent Jerry back and killed Agada and Azi. A third person who went with Jerry was able to run away while Agada and Azi received the kidnappers’ bullets.
“Both Azi and Agada, though from different villages, were buried in the same grave in Zangam as agreed by relatives of the two deceased persons.”
“The kidnappers are still at large. The police, military personnel, and hunters have been combing the forest and rocks of Maigemu village in search of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
