Two kidnap victims have been rescued by officials of Kogi State Police Command attached to Ajaokuta division.
The state police spokesperson, DSP William Aya in a statement released on Monday December 20, said the kidnap victims were rescued on Saturday December 18 following a tip-off.
Aya said;
“On December 18, 2021, around 4pm, we got a tip-off that some armed hoodlums blocked the road between NEPA and ASCOL bump inward Itobe, shooting sporadically in order to scare motorists to carry out their nefarious crime.”
A shootout ensued and all the kidnappers escaped into the bush, leaving their victims.
The police spokesperson also revealed that two men, Mohammed Alhaji and Amadu Juji were also arrested by police officers attached to Enjema division for allegedly rustling cattle within the community and its environs.
The arrest was initiated following a complaint of 15 missing cows from a Fulani camp at Okobo.
Aya added;
“The police promptly swung into action and arrested the suspects at Ogboji in the Ankpa area and recovered 14 cows. The suspects will be arraigned at the completion of investigation.”
