A man has narrated how he discovered a roadside sim card vendor used his photo and information to register more than one sim card.
The man revealed that his photo was taken twice by the vendor during capturing and this made him suspicious. He said he asked the vendor about this but was given a “flimsy excuse”.
Afterwards, he got a welcome text message twice and the vendor gave him another flimsy excuse.
He then went to his network provider to report the incident and he said they informed him that such roadside vendors have been stealing innocent people’s identities to register multiple sim cards which are then sold to criminals.
The vendor was arrested while the second line registered with the customer’s identity was disabled.
He shared his story after a roadside vendor who used a customer’s identity to register a second sim was caught and humiliated (read here).
