It’s another holiday season; or if you wanna be silly about it, it’s another season of disturbance. This disturbance could be stressful for everyone.
Check-out this 5 tips to get everyone gainfully engaged at home, perhaps meet at a mid-point of happiness
- Create a treasure hunt.
Make a treasure map with clues to find some treasure you have hidden somewhere at home. It doesn’t have to be expensive or big — any little treat will be exciting when it is found.
- Create a Summer Diary.
Encourage your beloved cuties to keep a Summer Diary or scrapbook. They can take photos of special days and write about them. It will become a lovely memory book for them in the future — and also keep them busy for hours. Encourage them to write a story of their favourite cartoon character that they watch on platforms like StarTimes that has about seven cartoon channels, bringing your kids’ favourites daily. This will help them to develop their story writing skills. That could be another Soyinka or Achebe in the making.
- Distract Them with Educating & Entertaining Cartoons
It’s not healthy to expose kids to all kinds of TV content. Now that BBNaija is ongoing, it’s certainly not content for kids. Plan a screen time for your kids, but also choose what kind of kid’s programmes they watch. We have helped you to collate some channels where your kids can get entertained and learn same time. Affordable pay-TV platform, StarTimes has a kiddies’ fun space with amazing programmes. Starting from N1,850 monthly, your kids can access cartoon channels like Cbeebies, JimJam, ST Kids, Nickelodeon, Toonami, Baby TV and Pineapple TV. So, you can install StarTimes decoder in your children’s room whilst you enjoy your favourite programmes in the other room. But always keep an eye on them.
- Cooking and baking. Once a week plan a cooking or baking day. Involve the kids in the process from the beginning — let them choose from a selection of recipes that you have ingredients for. If the child can read, get them to read from the recipe book. Step by step, help them to work through the instructions. Try to avoid the temptation of doing it yourself.
- Paint. One of the nicest ways to express your creativity is to use paint. Get large sheets of paper and lots of paint. Go mad and use your hands and feet — it’s liberating. To avoid any stress, prepare the area well and cover with plastic or newspaper. Have some water on hand to wash when you are finished. One of the ways to make enjoy this task is by asking them to paint the pictures of their favourite cartoon characters. Don’t forget that a platform like StarTimes has about seven cartoon channels, bringing your kids’ favourites daily.
