Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 6, said the suspect one Abubakar Mohammed, is a member of a five-man kidnap gang terrorizing Barkin Ladi area of Plateau State but relocated to Nasarawa.
“Sequel to consistent onslaught against kidnappers and other criminals in Nasarawa State, on 5/9/2021 at about 0130hrs, while acting on credible intelligence, one Abubakar Mohammed `M` 28years of Wamba road, Akwanga LGA was arrested by Police operatives attached to Akwanga Area Command,” the PPRO stated.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of five-man gang of kidnappers who were terrorizing Barkin Ladi area of Plateau State but relocated to Wamba road, Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State after two of his gang members were neutralized by security operatives during a fierce gun duel in Plateau State,” he added.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi has ordered that the case be transferred to Anti-kidnapping unit of the Command for a more thorough investigation and commended the officers for a job well done.
The CP further warned all criminals to flee Nasarawa State or meet their waterloo.
