[News] Police foil kidnap attempt as gunmen invade Plateau state university



The Plateau State police on Tuesday, May 9, foiled another kidnap attempt by some unknown gunmen at the Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU).

 

A statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, says at about 7.15pm, unknown gunmen attempted to kidnap some female off-campus students who went out to fetch firewood at a nearby bush when they ran out of cooking gas.

The school authorities were immediately alerted and in turn alerted the police.

’Upon receipt of this information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Bokkos Division aided by other Security operatives gave a hot chase to the hoodlums as a result of which they abandoned their evil plans which aided the escape and rescue of the students unhurt. No life was lost and no student was raped as alleged on Social Media and some news platforms.” the statement read

He said an investigation is still ongoing. So far, calm has been restored to the area.
