[News] Prince Philip’s treatment ‘is hurting him’ but he’s ‘improving’, Camilla reveals

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has said her father-in-law Prince Philip’s condition is “slightly improving” but his treatment “hurts at moments”.

During a visit to the Community Vaccination Centre at St Pauls Church in Croydon, London, she said the Royal Family is “keeping their fingers crossed”.

The Queen’s husband, who is three months from his 100th birthday, has now spent two weeks in hospital – his longest stay. Doctors are treating him for an infection, and also carrying out testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition.

The royal was transferred to St Bartholomew’s Hospital for continued treatment on Monday, March 1, following 13 nights in King Edward VII’s hospital.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said he is responding to treatment and “remains comfortable”.

Prince Charles is currently the only member of the Royal Family to visit Philip in hospital.

Visitors are only welcome in “exceptional circumstances”, King Edward VII’s hospital said before the visit.

The Queen is being kept regularly updated about her husband’s condition, but is unlikely to see him until he is discharged.
