The Adamawa state police command has arrested seven suspects over the brutal murder and burning of one Zira Gree 74years old, a resident of Gelegu village Michika local government area.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, gave the names of the suspects as Tumba Dalle 68yrs, Mary Kwoji 45 yrs, Deliver Tumba 28yrs, Okoko Sini 28yrs, Esther Kwatri ’34yrs, Usa Okoko 20yrs and Husseini Kwoji 22yrs, all of Kopale village, Michika local government area.
The police spokesman said the suspects on April 29th conspired, waylaid, and mangled to death the victim thereafter, burnt his corpse beyond recognition.
Investigation so far reveals that the suspects had earlier alleged that the victim was responsible for the death of their aged father, Kwoji Sini, who died on April 17 at General hospital Michika after a protracted illness.
Angered by the incident of their father’s death suspected to have been caused by the victim through fetish means, decided to take laws into their hands by killing and burning the 74year old man.
The suspects were apprehended by the command operatives attached to Michika Divisional police headquarters following a report received from the family members of the deceased.
The Commissioner of police CP SK Akande, haven directed a discreet investigation into the matter, equally warned members of the public to desist forthwith from any act capable of causing the breakdown of law and order, as police will not fold their arms and allow people take laws into their hands
The police Boss assured members of the public of sustained effort to protect lives and properties directed for diligent prosecution.
