[News] Two teenage boys arrested for snatching woman’s phone at knifepoint in Adamawa



Two teenage Shila boys were nabbed by some residents after they snatched a woman’s phone at knife point in Yola, Adamawa State.
The teenagers, Suleiman Shuaibu,15, and Abdulazeez Sani, both residents of Jambutu community in Yola North LGA, were apprehended on Monday, October 9, 2023, and handed over to the state Police Command for further investigation.
It was gathered that the suspects used the knife to frighten the victim before snatching her phone at a flyover bridge near the Jimeta Modern Market in Yola North LGA.
It was further learnt that Abdulazeez had allegedly stolen the knife from his grandfather.
According to witnesses, the boys had seen the woman trekking along the street and threatened her with the knife to surrender her bag to them.
They allegedly seized the bag after the victim told them that she was not carrying anything.
The suspects searched the bag, removed her phone and attempted to flee the scene but luck ran out on them as some men who witnessed the robbery caught them.
Spokesperson of the command, Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest of the boys on Tuesday, assured that they would be prosecuted.
