Lagos state police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi has said that they are currently decongesting cells in the state following the prolonged strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
Adejobi said the decongestion exercise is carried out in conjunction with the office of the Chief Judge and Attorney-General of the state.
Though he didn’t give the number of people who have been granted bail since the exercise commenced, the police spokesperson however said Magistrates and District Prosecutors have been directed by the Chief Judge to assess case files and grant bail to some suspects.
