[SPORTS News] Nigeria to convince Manchester City Youngster Lukas Nmecha to snub Germany and play for Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation are in talks to convince Manchester City starlet Lukas Nmecha to switch his national allegiances and play for the Super Eagles.

Born to a Nigerian father and German mother in Hamburg, the 22-year-old is eligible to represent the West Africans despite featuring for England and Germany at youth level.

Nmecha starred at the Under-21 European Championships, scoring the winning goal in the final for Germany against Portugal, as well as finishing as the tournament’s top goalscorer.

Nmecha scored the winner for England’s Under-19s in their European Championship final in 2017, also against Portugal.

He was born in Hamburg, but originally began his international youth career with England, turning out for the Young Lions at all age groups between Under-16 and Under-21, so if he agrees to play for Nigeria now, the move would see the young striker turn out for a third country.

According to German publication, BILD,  the Super Eagles are now looking to convince him to switch once more.

The 22-year-old qualifies to play for Nigeria through his father, who is a Nigerian by birth.

He has impressed this season while on loan at Anderlecht in Belgium’s top flight scoring 19 goals in all competitions as they finished fourth in the league.

He could be sold for £7million this summer as City see no future with him in the club .
