Have we ever wondered how prisons in Africa look like, We have all watched some American movies where we see some prison scenes and we all think that is the way African prisons are built and also how the facilities look like but that is unfortunately not the case. Here are some of the dangerous prisons in Africa.

1. Chikurubi Maximum Prison (Zimbabwe): This is the largest prison in Zimbabwe and it is located on the outskirt of Harare. Life in this prison is said to be unbearable as there is no adequate provision of food and water even blanket. Most of the prisoners die of starvation in this prison with no one to claim them afterward.

2. Kinshasha Prison (Congo): This is a prison in Congo with 850 prisoners packed in just one room in Congo and this has lead to some of the prisoners sleeping in the hallway or near septic tanks.
In 2008 United Nations human right named Kinshasha prison the worse prison in Africa after so many inmates died of infection.



3. Kirikiri Prison (Nigeria): This is the most popular maximum security prison in Nigeria. This prison is known for its congestion and it is always overcrowded. The rate of death in this prison is high because there is no standard health care and the condition of the prison also.


4. Mukobeko Maximum Prison (Zambia): This prison was originally built to have a single person per cell but now the situation seems different as 15 people are now in a single cell. There is no proper ventilation as the windows are built to be small. This prison is always witnessing different diseases outbreak such as tuberculosis, toilet infection, etc.

5. Nairobi Prison (Kenya): This prison is known as the most congested prison in Africa Because of the population of prisoners. The prison stinks because that is were the prisoners pass their waste, The condition the prisoners are living in this prison is unhealthy and this has resulted in so many death.
