[News] 1 in 3 Nigerians hypertensive – Cardiologist says

A Nigerian cardiologist has stated that one in three Nigerians suffer from hypertension.

According to Prof. Simon Isezuo, who delivered a lecture on Tuesday, September 12, in Kware, Sokoto State, titled ‘’ Current Approach in the Management of Hypertension in Rural Settings”, hypertension is a health disorder affecting one out of every three adults in rural areas of the country.

Isezuo said it was important for practitioners to follow the correct procedure in the measurement of blood pressure, sociocultural barriers to BP control, and cost-effective treatment and prevention.

According to him, health workers needed to be updated on the availability of apparatuses, dynamic situations, and challenges of hypertension management.
