[News] 2023 AFCON: Super Eagles will be difficult – Didier Drogba reacts to Nigeria being drawn against hosts Cote d’Ivoire

Cote d’Ivoire football legend, Didier Drogba has predicted a difficult match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Cote d’ivoire will be hosting the tournament and are in Group A with the three-time African champions, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

The Elephants and the Super Eagles will be favourites to qualify from the group.

Former Chelsea star, Drogba said playing the Super Eagles will be a big test.

“It is a very difficult group. Nigeria is of course one of the favourites and to have them in our group, it is going to be an exciting challenge,” Drogba was quoted by CAFonline.

“But we are up for it. This is the beauty of a competition like AFCON, so we are ready to take on the challenge and let the best teams of this group and all the groups qualify.”

The Super Eagles will open their campaign in the competition against Equatorial Guinea.

Jose Peseiro’s team will be looking to better their performance from the previous edition hosted by Cameroon.

The West Africans were eliminated by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the Round of 16.

The 2023 AFCON will run from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
