The management of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State has urged all students living in the Damba area to either relocate to Sabon Gida or Gusau metropolis.

The university Information Officer, Umar Usman, gave the advisory in a statement on Sunday, October 15, 2023, after bandits invaded a hostel at Sabon Garin Damba and kidnapped four students.

“The troops of the Operation Hadarin Daji and Metro Joint Patrol (Eagle Eye) have successfully rescued all the four (4) kidnapped students of Federal University Gusau who were abducted Saturday, 14th October, 2023 at Sabon Garin Damba Area, Gusau, Zamfara State,” the statement reads.

“The incident took place at about 08:00pm where four students were abducted at their rented apartment at an outskirt of Damba, an area close to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

“Two out of the four kidnapped students escaped after they were abducted while the remaining two were rescued after a heavy gun duel between the troops and the bandits

“The University Management wishes to urge students to either relocate to Sabon gida which is now well secured with armed security operatives or stay within Gusau metropolis.

“This is because they are more vulnerable to bandit attacks when living at the outskirts especially, Damba.”
