[News] Lekki TollGate massacre: “I established 21 deaths” investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo claims



Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has claimed no fewer than 21 people died following an investigative report he said he did about the Lekki toll gate shooting that occurred on October 20, 2020.

 

Soyombo said he spent 10 weeks tracing the deaths from the military intervention at the Lekki Toll gate and discovered that least 21 people died when End SARS protesters stationed at the Lekki Toll gate were shot at on October 20.

 

The report is a three-part series tracing not just the deaths, but also the disappearances and injuries resulting from that tragic incident.

 

The report was published by the Foundation For Investigative Journalism (FIJ).

 

Sharing a link to the report, Fisayo wrote:

And I only ever scratched the surface, even after 10 weeks.

From start to finish, this had all the markings of a massacre!

The lengthy report includes photos and names of victims as well as first-hand accounts from friends and families of the deceased.

 

Olalekan ‘Biggie’ Abideen and Abouta Solomon are two victims whose identities were revealed in the report. Others were identified either just by their first names or nicknames.
