[News] Manchester United to decide Mason Greenwood’s future ahead of the new Premier League season after spending six months conducting internal investigation

Manchester United is set to decide on Mason Greenwood’s future is imminent with the club before the start of the new Premier League season.

United have been conducting an internal investigation for the last six months since the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed at the start of February that it was dropping charges of attempted rape and assault against the 21-year-old.

Greenwood has been suspended by United for the last 18 months following his arrest in January 2022, with the player unable to play for the club or even train with his team-mates at Carrington.

United are aware of the need to resolve the uncertainty surrounding his situation before the start of the new season and will announce their decision in the next two weeks. Sources confirm that a decision is now imminent.

The options open to United are to terminate Greenwood’s contract, to re-integrate him into the squad, sell him, or loan him to another club for the new season.

He is currently under contract for another two years until 2025 with the option of an additional year.

Greenwood has been seen working out with a fitness trainer at a local public pitch, and his former United team-mate Anthony Elanga, who has now joined Nottingham Forest.
