[News] Mob beats up three people in Port Harcourt after accusing them of being “One Chance Operators”



Three people were beaten up by a mob in Port Harcourt after they were accused of being “One Chance” operators.

 

The men were beaten on Thursday, October 5, at Stadium Road, Port Harcourt.

 

A video shared online shows an angry mob descending on the suspects who were allegedly caught “red-handed”.

 

In the video, the crowd is seen beating two women – one on a brown shirt and the other on a white two-piece – alongside a man wearing a red t-shirt and loc’d hair.

The suspects were accused of picking up passengers to rob them.

 

“Dem dun collect my money,” a male voice cries out in the crowd.

 

“Beat them,” a female voice is heard saying.

 

Amid the commotion, the driver of the car is heard saying that he had no part in the robbery and would rather be taken to the police station.

 

He says: “Carry me go police o. Carry me go police station, no spoil my motor o. Carry me go police station… See, dem dun they scatter my motor o.”

 

“Na your motor?” Someone in the crowd asks.

 

The driver replies: “Na my motor o. I carry them, I no know says dem be bad person.”

 

“You no know says dem be one chance?” the man filming asks.

“I don’t know… Dem wan use am beat me,” the driver answers.

 

“You no know say dem be one chance?”

 

“I no know. I don’t know. I don’t know,” the driver insists.

 

“Where you carry dem?” the man filming asks.

 

“I carry them from GRA, dem say dem dey go One. Everybody know me o,” the driver says.

 

“So how dem come use dey rob other people now?”

 

Explaining how the suspects allegedly used his car for their scheme, the driver said: “Dem say dey wan collect POS, dem go the POs, dem go transfer person money. I don’t know anything, you understand me. Everybody know me o. Even this man know me.”

 

The mob that gathered is then seen using sticks to beat up the man wearing a red t-shirt and loc’d hair.

 

Eventually, the police arrived at the scene and the they were handed over to them.

 

One chance operators are robbers who use cars to pick up passengers before stealing from them and throwing them out of the moving vehicle.
