[News] Police arrest three suspected notorious car thieves in Jigawa



Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have arrested three notorious car thieves and recovered 3 stolen vehicles.
The assistant spokesperson of the command, ASP Abubakar Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 11, 2023, said one of the stolen vehicles recovered from the suspects belongs to one Dr. Abdullahi Dogo, a Technical Adviser to the Governor of Jigawa State.
“On 19/11/2023 at about 2000hrs, one Dr Abdullahi Dogo ‘m’ of GRA Hadejia LGA, reported at Dutse Police Station that, on the same date at about 1845hrs he parked his Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with Registration No. KHS 96 AA JIGAWA, ash in colour at Yantifa market Dutse LGA containing one laptop HP product, one iPad, two bags containing his clothes, one heater, a jumpa Cap, one cover shoe, and palm sandals and entered the market to buy some provisions, upon his return he discovered that the said motor vehicle was missing,” the statement read.
“On receipt of the report, policemen attached to Dutse Division swung into action and visited the scene. Based on credible Intelligence gathered, on 21/11/2023 at about 2200hrs, a suspicious movement of a motor vehicle one FAW VITA with Registration No.KWL 274 AS Abuja, ash in colour was detected around the Parking location in the Investment area of Dutse metropolis.
“On the instruction of the Divisional Police Officer Dutse, the Police Patrol team cordoned the area, and the following suspects namely: Abdullahi Sani ‘m’ 28yrs of Mashi L.G.A Katsina state and Faruk Adamu ‘m’ 29yrs of Keffi L.G.A Nasarawa state were arrested and taken to the station for interrogation.
“When questioned, they could not give a satisfactory account of themselves, and when searched, the following items were recovered from them: Nine (9) different master keys, different plate numbers, and some mechanic tools.
“The suspects upon interrogation confessed to being car thieves, and they admitted to having stolen a Toyota Corolla motor vehicle at the same place a fortnight before their apprehension.
“It was later discovered that the motor vehicle in question belongs to one Dr. Abdullahi Dogo ‘m’ (Technical Adviser to the Governor of Jigawa State). His personal belongings were also recovered in their possession, and some items were suspected to be stolen.
“Also, they further stated that their boss is one Abubakar ‘m’ a.k.a Dan-fulani who resides in Kano state. And they further revealed that the Dan-Fulani is their bonafide receiver.
With full authority of the Commissioner of Police Jigawa State Command, CP AT ABDULLAHI psc, who personally interviewed the suspects, instructed the Divisional Police Officer of Dutse Division to swung into action and ensure the apprehension of the Criminals at large.
“On 22/11/2023, the aforementioned Dan-Fulani who identified himself as Muhammed Sani, was arrested by Detectives who went to Kano Command on investigation activities and recovered the said stolen motor vehicle with another stolen motor vehicle Toyota Corolla Ash in colour with Registration No. RBA 585 CE ABUJA is strongly suspected to be stolen.
“Investigation is still ongoing at SCID Dutse. Upon completion of the investigation, all the suspects will be arraigned in court to face the law.”
